Overview

The Crowd Controller Refresher course is a short refresher training that gives the knowledge and skills required to have an up-to-date Queensland Crowd Controller Licence. This course delivers key updates in legislation, industry standards, and best practices in crowd control, conflict resolution, and the use of force.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, but the following are needed:

  • You need to be 18 years of age or older.
  • Present a valid government-issued photo identification.
  • Hold a current QLD Security Licence with the crowd control function.
  • Communication skills to interpret legislation and communicate effectively in a crowd control environment.
  • Basic language and numeracy abilities are needed to comprehend course material and complete evaluations.

Clients

Licencing security personnel in Queensland who are presently employed or wish to remain in good standing to continue working in crowd control positions, including:

  • Nightclubs and bars
  • Large public events and festivals
  • Licensed sites and entertainment complexes
  • Sports events and stadiums

Every 3 years

You must complete these training modules every 3 years to refresh your knowledge and skills:

  • CPPSEC3101 Manage conflict and security risks through negotiation
  • CPPSEC3121 Control persons using empty hand techniques
  • and either of
    • HLTAID011 Provide first aid
    • HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid

Recertification Requirements

In Queensland, crowd controllers are required to do refresher training every 3 years to retain their security licence. The Office of Fair Trading requires undertaking the three nationally endorsed units covered in this course.
